What does Hillel do for Shabbat?
Hillel 818 hosts weekly Shabbat dinners, during the academic year, where students can come socialize and enjoy a delicious and free kosher dinner. Services begin at 6pm with dinner after. Check out our calendar for a full listing of our Shabbats!
Can I park at Hillel?
Hillel sells parking permits for students who wish to park in the lot daily when attending classes. No parking permit is necessary when attending an event or if you are stopping by to say hi or for a meeting. If you cannot find a spot in the front lot please use the driveway to enter the rear lot. Kosher food at Hillel
Hillel 818’s kitchen is under the supervision of Rabbi Bryan Borenstein, our JLIC campus Rabbi, and all food served at Hillel is Kosher. Various locations on the CSUN campus also provide pre-packaged kosher food from Emuna Inc. Glatt Kosher Foods & Catering. Pre-packaged sandwiches and salads (both meat & dairy) can be found at The Marketplace - Sierra Center, The Arbor Grill, The Mercantile - USU and at The Edge - Bookstore. These items are under Rabbinical Council of California (RCC) supervision.

Is Hillel only for Jewish students?
No, everyone is welcome at Hillel 818. Please feel free to bring your non-Jewish friends. We are always glad to answer questions for anyone who is curious about Jewish life. Our pluralistic environment allows all students to feel comfortable. Whether your Jewish path is leading you to wrap tefillin, or eat corned beef sandwiches, Hillel wants to be a part of your Journey.
Is there a Judaic Studies department at CSUN?

Can I reserve a room at Hillel 818?
Yes, Hillel 818’s building has been used by a variety of organizations in the past. To inquire about our space and check for room availability and cost please contact the Hillel 818 director, David.
Is Hillel 818 connected to the University community?
While Hillel 818 is a separate organization from Cal State Northridge, Pierce College and LA Valley College, it is integrated into the university and college communities through its dynamic programs, co-sponsorship of events, and the involvement of active students in many other campus groups. The three schools are very supportive of Hillel and its role on campus and Hillel works hard to provide a welcoming atmosphere for all students, faculty and families. Hillel 818 is a registered student club at CSUN known as CSUN Hillel.

My Life After Hillel
Hillel primarily serves the undergraduate communities at CSUN, Pierce College and Los Angeles Valley College. We welcome other college age students.Our primary focus are students, ages 18-24 years. For those students who have graduated or are a little older, we suggest contacting Moishe House, Yala, Nu Roots, or the multitude of other young adult organizations
