Start of the Year at Hillel 818

We’ve had an exciting start to our year at Hillel 818! We’ve watched our returning students welcome in new members to the Hillel community through games, conversations, meals, and more fun events. Keep reading to see what we’ve been up to!

End of Summer Bash: We welcomed our new students to Hillel with a fun night at Castle Park to close out the summer.

818 Block Party: Hillel kicked off the school year with a night filled with games, food, Kona Ice truck, and meeting so many new friends!

Welcome Back Shabbat: We hosted our first Shabbat of the year, celebrating with services, dinner, and a scavenger hunt through the building.

Jackbox Game Night: Our students had a blast making each other laugh through quippy and silly games.

Queer Paint & Sip: Queer students and allies enjoyed mocktails, a social bingo, and a painting demonstration.

‘Twas the Night Before Rosh Hashanah: Leading up to Rosh Hashanah, we gathered in the social hall to make individual apple pies and hear some of Rabbi Jess’s favorite apple-centric texts.

RSJ Movie Night: Our Russian Speaking Jews held a movie night and discussion of the film Everything is Illuminated.

DnD 101- Character Building: We laid the foundation for this semester’s DnD campaign by teaching our students how to put together a character fit for their adventuring universe.

Shabbat Under the Stars: We closed out another week with Shabbat services around a campfire, an outdoor movie, and some s’mores.

2000s Dance Night: Our dance kehilah held their first event where they learned a hip hop routine to *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye”.
