This past Friday, we hosted "Pink Shabbat" at Hillel for Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the help of Sharsheret. Sharsheret is a Jewish breast cancer organization that helps women and their families face breast and ovarian cancer. They do everything from support, mini care packages, and so much more. The speaker talked about what the organization does and what we can do to help. With the help of Sharsheret, speakers come to visit college campuses to talk about the importance of being tested for the BRCA gene. The BRCA gene test is used to identify mutations in breast cancer susceptibility genes.
We had a great turn out for Shabbat! Everyone wore pink, which went with all pink from the tablecloth, to pink flowers on the tables and pink balloons. It’s always amazing to see new faces show up at Shabbat on Friday nights.
