Community Fellowships and Job Postings for Students

From time to time our friends throughout the Jewish world have job, fellowship, and other opportunities open to our Hillel 818 students. Here are some of the ones currently available (to the best of our knowledge):

Job Opportunity: Program
Associate for Sayva

Sayva is a new initiative of Valley Beth Shalom, funded by the Jewish Community Foundation, and organized in cooperation with Temple Judeah, Temple Ramat Zion, and the Fountainview Residence of the Jewish Home, to enrich the lives of senior adults in our community. The first project of Sayva is the establishment of a Community Service desk to assist senior adults who seek to engage in significant volunteer experiences in community service organizations and projects. The Program Associate will staff this desk.

The positions consists of three tasks –
(1) Research community service opportunities in our vicinity that are open to senior adult volunteers to build a catalog of available volunteer placements;
(2) Interview and counsel senior adults to connect them with appropriate placements;
(3) Work with community leaders to develop new programs of community service for senior adult volunteers.

The Program Associate will be an employee of Valley Beth Shalom and will be supervised by Rabbi Ed Feinstein. The position is part-time and will begin at 10 hours per week, with the proviso that hours may expand as demand expands. Salary commensurate with experience. The position is available immediately.
The position requires a college degree and work experience in human services in addition to strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with senior adults and experience in the Jewish community would be most beneficial.
