Shabbat Student Speaker: George

At Shabbat last Friday, George, a Grapevine Fellow, took the opportunity to share his reflections on Parshat Noah and a lesser-discussed part of the story: the Tower of Babel.

George broke the story into two parts: the before and the after. Before, the people were united in their efforts, demonstrating the power of communication and collaboration. After, their differences became more apparent, reminding us that individuality does not have to stand in the way of working together.

For George, this lesson is especially meaningful in the communities we build today. Whether we are connecting with friends and family through conversations and texts or coming together through shared experiences, communication helps us grow closer. And even with our different interests, hobbies, and perspectives, we can still find common ground.

Ultimately, George’s message was a celebration of Jewish community and the joy we create when we come together. Because we can each be our own people while still working toward a shared dream. And as George reminded us, it is even better when we get to build it together.
